To narrow it down, how effective is taxation as a government measure of solving environmental problems?How effective are taxes?Effectivity of taxation fully depends on how the government is handling it since these taxes will be used as funds, here in the philippines, our government is full of corrupt officials so no matter how much taxes are collected any issues especially environmental problems are never given full attention.How effective are taxes?As a means of reprimand, working like a parking ticket, if it's bad enough to require specific taxation, then taxation won't stop it (slow it down, perhaps, or open up an underground way of continuing the taxed behavior). However, any tax on something popular or hard to end dependency on (cigarettes, for example) is just another way to get lots of money to fund the war.
