Is American capitalism capable of tackling the problem of climate change?

Or because of Congress and the White House being captured by big campaign contributors beholden to the oil %26amp; gas %26amp; coal companies, are the American private sector and the American public sector both going to let this global environmental problem go unaddressed -- no matter the consequences? Is American capitalism capable of tackling the problem of climate change? No, the reason for this is not part of government it is the big energy companies that have a stake in the changes that occur from people becoming, or at least trying to be, more eco friendly. On average they spend .08% of their average net gross on studies on alternative fuels. The reason for this low number being they can make more money acting the way they are now then trying to be inventive.

There is no reason for companies under capitalism to try to make a difference because there is little profit for them in the short term, and unfortunately the short term is what the capitalist mind looks at.

Happy new year.Is American capitalism capable of tackling the problem of climate change?
No country of The United States scale is doing more about the effects of pollutants, erosion, global global starvation, medical care, engineering and water and air quality than The United states and its citizens. No country puts out more studies, students and international programs from the Myriad of universities than the United States. Because The united States shows up to things like the Kyoto Conferences and leads in education and reform per ca pita pollutant and willingness to understand NOT EUROPE. European newspapers have become jealous and covetous of our role in the global summits and change. They write angry lie after angry lie about the United States being a horrific pollutant even though most of them have never stepped foot in the Untied States.

The fact is The top Carbon polluters now are China, India And Qatar and all are unwilling to cooperate in Global change which is why the United States representative at the Kyoto Conference got up and left the table in 2008 because of the nasty rigid policies of these countries. Not because of the United States Unwillingness to recycle or protect animals or plant trees. I mean seriously, who doesn't LOVE trees and animals. Also, if Recycling receptacles were as abundant as Trash cans across the country (they're not) I don't know a lot of people who wouldn't do it) whether they think global warming is a hoax or not however, it is tough to argue recycling is a bad thing. Is American capitalism capable of tackling the problem of climate change?Climate change is a natural phenomena and has nothing to do with the economy. Well, unless the loonies get a chance to burden the economy with a bunch of moronic new laws and taxes that are to fix something that isn't broken.

They are being captured by reality and good sense. Funny thing to happen to politicians but stranger things have happened. Is American capitalism capable of tackling the problem of climate change?
You should know that certain people don't believe in climate change in the winter. They can't see two feet in front of their faces. Even when it's the warmest winter ever recorded in the Northern Hemisphere like it was in 2007, the conservative talk shows were still on air every morning talking about how cold it was.Is American capitalism capable of tackling the problem of climate change? On January 17, 1961 Eisenhower in his farewell speech warned of the threat of a Military Industrial Complex attaining too much influence. You can watch part of his farewell speech pertaining to that complex on you tube

I firmly believe Eisenhower was correct in giving that warning. I also believe a new threat is coming against our freedom, liberty and prosperity. That is the Climate Alarmist Complex. Ever since the global warming theory came into the news more and more funds have been pumped in to studying this theory. This money has already corrupted some scientists as the climategate emails prove. It is also corrupting some of our politicians who now want to stifle freedom and industry with draconian measures to reduce CO2 emissions.

We all need to stand against the global Climate Alarmist Complex by opposing any spending on more climate research and by opposing spending money or making laws to reduce CO2 emissions. Together we can stop the Climate Alarmist Complex from ending our prosperity, liberty and freedom.
Yes, capitalism works on quick profits, not saving the environment. Your form of democracy is very corrupt. I don't have much hope for the US taking a lead on anything. They are broke. Many do not believe science but blindly believe the world was created 6000 years ago. Education is generally poor. Your last great thing was the moon landings. China is the next great leader. Is American capitalism capable of tackling the problem of climate change?
Cap and trade is an effective market-based approach for reducing emissions in the most cost-effective manner. It worked for SO2, and it will work for CO2.

However, Republicans won't wise up to this until it's too late.
Climate change is a non issue.

No need to address it.

Get the economy cranking.

And didn't you guys used to call it Global Warming.

What a joke.Is American capitalism capable of tackling the problem of climate change?
no, because it is an international problem.
No need to take care of phony "problems", sport, but if a climate change problem did in fact exist yes capitalism would do just fine fixing it.
NO. Capitalism is based on cyclical consumption. This doesn't jive with responsible consumption or renewable anything.
I think everyone realizes climate change was a hoax by now

greenglobalrevolution.com (in their own words they describe the scheme)
Considering Man Made Climate Change is a hoax based on faked data, it should be easy to tackle.
Climate change isn't a problem simply beacuse the Earth has been experiencing it ever since it was formed.
Since the climate is not changing any more than it normally does over time, I guess American capitalism is your hero.
No system of govt can control the climate.
Lolclimatechange.
If by "tackle" you mean "add to", then yes.
i don't believe in Global Warming.
If it was necessary, yes. But since Ma Nature knows better than us, we don't have to.
We will see
We need to tear down the industrial world
