Are fundamentalists/evangelicals generally hostile to conservation and environmental protection? Why?

I was listening to a talk show on a fundamentalist radio station this morning and the guest and the talk show host were really railing against environmentalism. They seemed to think that the very suggestion that there might be real environmental problems which need to be solved was an abomination. Is this attitude common among that type of people? Are fundamentalists/evangelicals generally hostile to conservation and environmental protection? Why?I understand how it could be considered irreligious to think that Man can fix this world .. That severely jerks god out of the equation ..As much as that makes some liberal atheists happy it makes right conservative christians irritated .Are fundamentalists/evangelicals generally hostile to conservation and environmental protection? Why?
Yes, because those things fall under the umbrella of everything -- which they are hostile towards. Are fundamentalists/evangelicals generally hostile to conservation and environmental protection? Why?Because they see it as a New World Order established by the Anti Christ fulfilling some lame prediction of the end of the world. Are fundamentalists/evangelicals generally hostile to conservation and environmental protection? Why?
Yes, because they think they whole thing's going to end in our lifetimes.

That's one of the few religious beliefs I consider truly dangerous. Are fundamentalists/evangelicals generally hostile to conservation and environmental protection? Why?Only among the most extreme fringe. Even Baptists recycle glass, plastic, and paper.
Anything that goes against intelligence, logic, or reason, fundies are for.

This is why I am against the foolish Armageddon BS.Are fundamentalists/evangelicals generally hostile to conservation and environmental protection? Why?
The idea that human beings (alone) could destroy the planet bothers them, because according to them, that is the providence of God alone. When there is a man-made disaster caused by pollution, many of them still look up at the sky and wonder how we have offended God.

Secondly, they oppose environmentalism because they have allied themselves with the Republican party, which tends to protect the interests of businesses over that of the public.
I think that God originally put us here to be the caretakers of His garden. We are supposed to take care of the earth, since HE gave the whole thing to us , at the time of Noah. On the other hand thinking that man has the power to save the earth, when God has already said that He is going to smash the place up and start over again, / well , it just seems a little futile to go along with the "save the planet" peopleAre fundamentalists/evangelicals generally hostile to conservation and environmental protection? Why?
no its not common
No.

It is our responsibility to be good stewards of the earth and take the best care we can of the resources provided. God expects this stewardship from us in every aspect of our lives, whether our families, our education, our finances, or the environment (IMO).
We pay extra to have our recyclables and yard waste hauled away.

I use the same Styrofoam cup at work whilst everyone else blows through five. I also keep the same plastic utensils for, oh , about three months.

But, truth be told, the left wing-nuts, just like the right wing blowhards, grab power through speaking "for those who have no voice". The left uses the forest and the right uses the unborn. Neither really care about those items. They just use them because they are hot-button issues.
I think it is. As a Christian I do think we need to get on the bandwagon and do a better job at cleaning up our environment. It is a shame to see the rivers and oceans polluted with garbage caused by human beings. What a disgrace it is.
Not sure what you were listening to and exactly what is said. From what I know, people think the government uses green issues to tax and control more.

A few years ago someone compared the carbon footprint of Al Gore's home to George Bush's. I was really surprised to see how Gore's house was a huge energy hog while Bush's was very energy efficient. This link is from a liberal website, snopes.

Add... I think most people want to take care of the environment.
Oh, yes. They believe that being made in gods image according to their bible, they are more important than any animal or plant life. God said subdue the earth and they took it literally. :))) Sad, but true.
You are being ridiculous.

Don't you and your friends know that the radio host chose this person

knowing full well how he would come off on the air.

He was poking fun at fundamentalists and I find that unacceptable behavior.

The environment is important to us all.

There are many simple measures we can all take to help our environment.

There are also some environmentist that go way overboard with it to make money.

Let's all keep our heads and realize we are all living on the planet.

Do the best we can, and stop trying to push our political beliefs on everyone.
Look. I don't want to be Hostile to you. But all that **** has to do with a world economy. if all country's are tied in to the same economy.then if one falls, we all fall. and their will be war over disagreement with others moneys. kind of what is going on right Now,, the global thing is bad news.. what if another hitler gains power. who will stop him?
