Environmental science work experience?

Hi all



Ive recently changed my whole path of life and wish to pursue environmental science as a degree, so I need to find some work experience to show my commitment. The problem is where?



Environmental science covers a broad range so where do you think I should ask around at?



Any help with suggestions to place would be very useful. Im thinking about asking the local council and my local water supplier?

But the bulk of environmental science work is actually done by consultancy firms, usually on behalf of the governmental bodies and water suppliers.



Also bear in mind that the industry has gone through a tough time of late, the slow down in construction and public works brought on by the recession has made jobs and new projects much more scarce than previously.
