Current issues/problems in Egypt?

Economic, political, and environmental problems Egypt is currently facing.

Also, is Egypt a big producer of oil? I've heard both yes and no.. so I'm kind of confused.Current issues/problems in Egypt?I will try to summurise a best as I can, but People write books on Egypt in parts of what you said, you know.

Economically:

Surprisingly well, if you look at the whole picture. But if you take a closer look you will see the high class and corporate swine are hogging most of the wealth. The middle class is now Upper Middle and Lower Middle, and the latter is starting to merge with the lower class. But we are (as an Economic entity) very powerfull and getting better. But my info is only as much as the newspapers can give, so there must some other side of this.

Politically:

Even a five year old understands how things work around here now. We have a corrupt president, who prefers money and no trouble to the good of his people and their well being. And a system is only as good as it's head, so the entire system is a mess, and bribes are actually starting to seem normal. I have had a hard time getting things done because I refuse to live like this.

Enviromental:

Cairo is the most polluted city in Africa. Coastal cities aren't as bad, and Upper Egypt and delta ares are pretty clean (I've been around, nothing perfect but you can see, feel and smell the difference between, say Cairo and Dimmietta).

There is ofcourse the recent collapse of our garbage collection system (see what I wrote in politics) and so garbage is all over. And people are in a state of total disregard for public property and cleanliness of their country. There are exceptions, but I'm describing the general attitude.

Compared to the Gulf and K.S.A. Egypt doesn't produce a lot of oil although it constitutes a large portion of it's exports.

This is, obviously, an incomplete summary of what seems like a shockingly grim situation. But over the past couple of years, I sense a sort of awakening among people. We are, for the first time in a long time, admitting our problems, and so I am very optimistic.

Hope I helped!Current issues/problems in Egypt?Let me give you simple straightfoward honest answers:

Economic/political: Corrupt government (stupid president) who doesn't know how to handle his responsibily wisely. Our conditions are in a horrible state at the moment and most of the money is going to waste. (The latest i've heard about the economy is that they are going to start taxing houses now -_-).

Environmental: Littering and carelesness

Egypt produces a lot of crude oil, but the output doesn't compare to countries such as Saudia Arabia or the ones in OPEC.Current issues/problems in Egypt?Well, basically it's like this.. There seems to be an attitude of "good enough" is enough to get things done. I mean there are LOTS of hard workers for sure but if you look around you find many things done poorly or half finished or corners cut. If you ever saw the brickwork of a building for example you would question if you should live in it. Or they finish 1/4 of the exterior to look decent and leave it all bare. That's a very small example.

There's this way that Egyptians like to short change themselves and each other in life. On the one hand there is immense pride in being Egyptian, which is awesome.. but on the other hand Egyptians tolerate poor treatment and poor wages because they are merely Egyptian...

Environmentally.. ha, sometimes I've driven beside the Pyramids and I can't freaking SEE THEM for all the smog. But oddly, some days it's so clear i can count the stones...

Littering is HUGE.. if every Egyptian didn't throw the rubbish on the ground for 1 week, the cities would be transformed..

economically, I find 2,000 pounds can quickly disappear to feed your family and buy gas and very little else. There is something in that country that dissolves my money while leaving no evidence.. I know that a lot of people make less than 500 pounds in a month.

Political.. I can't go there now.. sorry.

Egypt has SUCH great potential but I wish Egypt will do the right stuff for HERSELF, for her own sake.

I know there are lots of great great places.. but most of us live in the city and it is so hard to see the beauty when its covered with so many problems.
