Does increased knowledge of science make you more likely to be worried about environmental issues?

According to PISA (the international student assessment body), American students have an above-average level of optimism regarding environmental issues. This has been linked to the fact that out of the 30 countries tested by PISA, American students rank 21st for scientific knowledge.

Within America, PISA also reported that there was a fairly consistent trend where, the less students knew about science, the more likely they were to be optimistic about the dangers posed by environmental issues.

The report can be found here: http://www.pisa.oecd.org/document/2/0,33鈥?/a>

Scroll down to the bottom and click on United States under "Briefing Notes".

So, do you agree that it seems likely that being more scientifically knowledgeable makes you more likely to see the threats caused by enivornmental problems? And does that, in turn, imply that a lack of concern about environmental problems is caused by ignorance?Does increased knowledge of science make you more likely to be worried about environmental issues? Are you accounting for the effects of indoctrination in this study? Or do you really think that being in an enviornment where authority figures tell you that something is a problem has no effect on somebody's opinion?

The fact of the matter is that there has not been an honest and open scientific debate on man-made climate change. And until there is - I will remain unconvinced.Does increased knowledge of science make you more likely to be worried about environmental issues?
I am more scientifically knowledgeable than the average person, and I see no reason why we should be worried about global warming. Don't forget that 30 years ago scientists were trying to warn us "We're gonna freeze to death if we don't do something!" I hear reports all the time about the melting ice caps, but what about the reports of glaciers that are actually growing? How come the media rarely, if ever, reports about that?Does increased knowledge of science make you more likely to be worried about environmental issues?Looks like more lies by liberals. To support a HOAX.Does increased knowledge of science make you more likely to be worried about environmental issues?
Actually I remember when I was in school in advanced science classes the more I learned I realized how tests and experiments were done and how easily data could be misinterpreted and how human error come into play, I used to think global warming was proven science, but realize now its not and could all be misinterpreted data, and the email leaks from all the scientists strengthen my belief that its not trueDoes increased knowledge of science make you more likely to be worried about environmental issues? That's true when you literally define "science" to mean results paid for by politicians. Otherwise, not so much.Does increased knowledge of science make you more likely to be worried about environmental issues?
the environmental problems of the planet is in the hands of mother nature

mans impact on our climate isn't enough to make a dent in what she does

that's the science of the issue

the political issue of this is pure bs and only serves to full some pockets

of extremists and soapbox fanaticsDoes increased knowledge of science make you more likely to be worried about environmental issues?
Yes, that's been my observations too.

21st out of 30? Wow. That's depressing. It does explain a lot of what we see here, though.

No - the opposite.

Don't get your panties in a bunch but a NASA study reflected that the temperature of the earth has risen .6 degrees F ( less than one degree ) since the 1890's.

Those " climate control experts " who run around like Chicken Little yelling " The Polar Ice Caps will melt if you don't drive a Prius !....The Polar Ice Caps will melt if you don't drive a Prius !! " are the same " climate control experts " who can't tell us if it's going to rain next Tuesday ?

The most recent evidence re: " global warming " reveals that prior " scientific experts supporting the concept of global warming " actually submitted bogus + fraudulent " facts %26amp; figures "
