After taking off from Aspen Airfield Colorado, aircraft began filling cabin with hot vapors and terrible smell. Diverted to COS airfield and shut down. Aircraft has discontinued problem and will not repeat. What could be the problems?LearJet 60 environmental cabin issue?Like REALLY hot? Were cabin sounds louder than normal? Not familiar with the exact terminology Lears use, but it sounds like it could be the ECS emergency valve stuck open - i.e. cabin was pressurizing with bleed air that bypassed the ACM. If this was the case, you'd probably know it just from the noise.
It could have also been a stuck mixing valve in the ACM, meaning there was no temperature control available by normal means.
Any time you have really hot air (i.e. unconditioned bleed air) going through the ducts, it will smell pretty bad as all of the dust, lint or anything else in the ducts burns.LearJet 60 environmental cabin issue?Bird strike. Sometimes they smell delicious, sometimes they make you want to throw up
