How do you dispose defective car battery in an environmental friendly manner?

I live in India and use Exide car battery that i replaced when it got defective. I want to know how the Lead acid battery can be disposed without causing a problem to the environment that I live in. I would like to get a solution that will be the most appropriate for India. How do you dispose defective car battery in an environmental friendly manner? The Environmental Policy %26amp; Regulation (ISO 14001) recommends that the when a person buys a new battery, the dealer who is selling it HAS to take back the old one. HE HAS TO DO IT...because the dealer is a mediator in between the manufacturer and the customer. Once he gets back the old battery, he is supposed to send it back to the manufacturer...who knows how to dispose/recycle it properly. So, ask your dealer...How do you dispose defective car battery in an environmental friendly manner?duh recycleHow do you dispose defective car battery in an environmental friendly manner?here in the USA that take them in exchange so they can dispose of them properly....but if that isnt an option, just take it to a messed up neighborhood, and throw it out of the car
