Hey guy's my name is Alex, and I'm participating in a survey in College of One Hundred people on
environmental issues. So far I've reach 65 people but out of 20 some people were in the dark about the issue. Are you guy's willing to answer a few questions?
1) What are the 5 root causes of environmental problems we face?
2) Explain why some people oppose environmental reform. Be sure
to include at least 3 reasons..
3) What is the intrinsic value of biodiversity?
4) Distinguish between endangered and threatened species.
5) What are some things we lose as the planet becomes more crowded?
6) List 3 factors that can reduce air pollution and 3 factors that can increase air pollution.
7) What is the Earth鈥檚 natural greenhouse effect?
8) What is global warming?
9) Why should we worry about a possible rise of only a few degrees in the average temperature at the earth鈥檚 surface?
10) What percentage of the earth鈥檚 total volume of water is easily available for use by people?
11) List the major advantages and disadvantages of building large dams and reservoirs to supply fresh water.
12) List the major pollution problems in oceans. Why are most of these problems found in coastal areas?Environmental survey?1 - Air pollution, Water pollution, War, Hot air (The Al Gore Kind), Transportation
2 - Afraid to change because of change. Afraid of loss of profit. Not likely to see the potential benefit.
3 - It provides us a nutritionally balanced palate of both foods and other natural elements.
4 - Endangered - immediate threat Threatened - potential threat.
5 - Space. Clean air clean water
6 - A) More stringent environmental research such as air pollution modeling...

...before allowing new projects, increased wind speeds in the area of pollution sources, less emissions from pollution sources. B) Stagnant air, more emissions, careless emissions.
7 - Compounds in the atmosphere do and always have partially inhibited the free emission of long wave (infrared) radiation to outer space.
8 - A distinct identifiable trend resulting in an increase of globally averaged temperatures over a sustained period of time.
9 - It is supposed to make current coast lands unusable (submerged)
10 - about 1%
11 - Advantages - an increase in the fresh water supply. More wetlands where there were none before. Disadvantages peoples and animals homes might get a bit wet.
12 - Great pacific garbage patch, trash trapped in natural ocean gyre. Oil spills in the water. Coastal areas are where man has the greatest influence on seawater.Environmental survey?1. people polluting, pollution from machines, etc, oil spills, people not caring for their envrionment, not enough environment conservation, etc
2. they dont want to do it cause it needs time and effort, it could mess with their economics, or some just dont care.
3. i dont understand what youre trying to ask.
4. threatened is about to be endangered, and endangered is close to extinction.
5. air (people breathe), trees, good soil, plants, forests, clean rivers and bodies of water (they become polluted), animals (either hunted or have no place to live)
6. decrease- not driving so much cars, planting more trees, decreasing amount of power plants or whatever their called (those things that just billow out smoke all the time and look like that - http://www.freefoto.com/images/1341/06/1鈥?/a>
increase- by not planting trees, by making more cars and trucks and powerplants, and burning things that are not meant to be burnt.
7. i forgot... it has something to do with plants... wait, no... okay, its when sun gives heat and part of it heats the surface on earth and the rest is reflected and heats the atmosphere... and theres something about convention or what not..
8. thats easy, increase in temperature on earth. it kinda explains its self.. i heard its causing the ice caps and glaciers to melt.. or was that the ozone hole thing?
9. it could throw everything off. like with plants and whatever, basically, the environment is used to one climate.
10. very little. a couple percent. it think.. most of the water is saltwater..
11. advantages-? i dont know, you said it supplies fresh water.. disadvantages- fish die, i think..
12. oil spills. garbage thrown into sea. mostly by coastal areas because thats where ships be and people dump garbage, i think...
