How is overpopulation a "Social" problem?

For my Sociology Term paper, we're supposed to identify a social problem in the US and write a 5 page paper on it. My topic is set in stone now, and I can't change it. I just started doing research, but all I can find is how its an environmental problem and how it CAUSES social problems such as poverty. However, the only thing we're allowed to evaluate in the paper is what social problems cause overpopulation. Any help would be MUCH appreciated! How is overpopulation a "Social" problem?People are not educated on practicing safe sex so they create more people and thus cause poverty.

I wrote a paper about that when I was in college. How is overpopulation a "Social" problem?Resources are finite, the more people you have the less resources each person has, think of clean water shortages, food, medicine, etc. also if you have a lot of people they will need jobs but if industry doesn't grow as fast as the population then there will be too many people and not enough jobs thereby increasing the amount of those in poverty. However, most western countries need more population in terms of economics, not less. But your safest bet is to go with jobs and earthly resources. How is overpopulation a "Social" problem?Population growth is not a problem at all. There is so much space still available on this earth that we will never overpopulate our planet. God tells us in the bible to.......go and populate the earth. He didn't put a limit on the population either. And remember, God has never been wrong yet.
