We hear so much crap spouted by central and local government about environmental and energy issues why are so few initiatives and grant aid available and why are they so obscure. I would expect there to be a greater awareness of the problem and much more information available to both householders and industrialists alike.
The opportunities for energy conservancy, recycling, land reclamation, renewablle energy sources, new business etc are immense. So why does this inept, incompetent government only pay lip service to the problem.
LA 21 directive is a prime example of gobbledegook and clausal kop-outs for local authorities. Why don't the government and local authorities support environmental and energy conservancy initiatives? You are so right. They should lead by example. Politicians should lead properly, follow the will of the people or just get out of the way. Green living doesn't mean we have to sacrifice our way of life just alter our way of living. Why don't the government and local authorities support environmental and energy conservancy initiatives?
all politicians are bought and sold by big oil companies. whether
demo or rep.Why don't the government and local authorities support environmental and energy conservancy initiatives? Our Local Council gives a generous grant to anyone installing a Sinkerator (waste disposer) and I believe they also give one for solar panels for water heating according to the advertising blurb in B %26amp; Q.Why don't the government and local authorities support environmental and energy conservancy initiatives?
Some do. In California, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) were subsidized so much that I bought a pack of 4 for $2. They also set up a program to allow low income families to make their homes more energy efficient for free. I happend to qualify for the program at the time and got a free energy efficient fridge, blanket around my water heater, free CFLs, and guys came to seal up some air leaks to improve my house's insulation.
California is kickass like that. More state and local governments need to follow CA's example. Why don't the government and local authorities support environmental and energy conservancy initiatives?I do not think they really care and most of them are rich enough that they will be able to move to mars when it gets really bad. Only the poor people will be left here to fend for themselves.
For the same reason that your health insurance won't pay for stop smoking items like nicotine gum or patches, hypnotism or medications. Because it is a shot in the dark with no measurable out come on an individual basis.
For the common person the government tax incentives for solar power are meaningless because the size of the tax break is enough to get a solar grid that might run your fridge.
Everyone, governments included are waiting for the next big break through, whether it be a super battery or frictionless bearings. Why don't the government and local authorities support environmental and energy conservancy initiatives?
because they're too busy scaring us that someone is going to rob our homes and come kill us or something...
or they're too busy "helping" the poor and "getting involved"
(yea right..)
idk it takes them a while to get anything done
I think one of the best examples is when the Government closed down the British Steel works because they were polluting and then buying steel from China so that they could complain about the pollution that China was causing. A case of "What a good boy am I and you should be doing the same!"Why don't the government and local authorities support environmental and energy conservancy initiatives?
They do look at the Tax Initiative for a SUV.
