Is climate change a threat to humanity as the UN alleges ?

A United Nations study has concluded that a failure to address major environmental problems facing the planet could threaten the very survival of humanity.



The problems include global warming, the extinction of species and unsustainable development.



The study says persistent issues are not being dealt with.



But, the executive director of the UN Environment Programme, Achim Steiner, says the study does not want to paint a picture of doom:



"What we want citizens is not to become frustrated and despondant but rather to become to some extent upset at the inability or unwillingness of decision makers be it political or economic, to respond to what the big picture is now showing us, which is essentially 20 years after 15 years after the earth summit in Rio, all major indicators of sustainability is still pointing downwards," he said.

It isn't merely one thing, it is the combined negative synergistic effect on human life that is overwhelmingly threatening. Humanity, all humanity, has never faced anything on such scale. Factor in nuclear devastation in several places simultaneously, and the effect is unimaginable.Is climate change a threat to humanity as the UN alleges ?
Even when the writing is on the wall, we have to have eyes with which to see, and I don't mean physical eyes. But, I'm preaching to the choir with you as you are with me.

Those who support the idea of global warming (called global climate change since we had some big snow storms in the last few years... :) ) will say that scientists have formed a consensus about man made global warming, and somehow that makes it true. A consensus is simply a vote. Science can not be held to a vote. It must be PROVEN. Some of the models being used to predict global warming are the same computer models that cannot accurately predict the weather a week in advance! Many scientists disagree with the global warming agenda. One of our own, Bill Gray , is professor emeritus in the atmospheric science department of Colorado State University. He worked predicting hurricanes for the National Weather Service for many years. He has been a meteorologist for over 50 years. Those are some pretty decent credentials! He sees man-made global climate change as a hoax being perpetrated against the people of the world. Since he has had his eye on the weather for longer than I have been alive, I tend to believe that he knows what he is talking about.

Global climate change is going to happen, as our climate cycles naturally. If you look back in history, you can find that they grew crops in Greenland and Scotland, where nothing grows now. You can also find winters in Virginia that nearly starved settlers to death. When is the last time you have thought of Virginia as a fridgid, snowy tundra? See, our climate naturally cycles from warmer to cooler.
