What types of GM crops could help the world?

I know that Bt corn and RR crops have some environmental benefits by reducing pesticide use and allowing more no-till production (which helps fight climate change by using less fuel and keeps more carbon in the soil).

What are some new examples of GM crops (maybe at the research stage?) that would be good for the world? Like by helping with food security, reducing pesticide use, or otherwise helping with environmental problems? What types of GM crops could help the world?anything that is resistent to immediate rotting would be helpful tot he world. if you don't have to spend as much money preserving fruits and vegetables, they can be shipped to anywhere, anytime, and stay "fresh" cheaper, using less energy for refrigeration, dehydration, canning etc.

it also means less would be thrown away, because of a longer shelf lifeWhat types of GM crops could help the world? The USDA agency ARS (Agriculture Research Service) is working on implanting drought resistance genes from peppers into cucumbers, enabling cucumbers to be grown with less irrigation water or in areas where it's too arid for ordinary cucumbers. They're also beginning research on incorporating genes into grain crops that will vaccinate people against diseases simply by eating the grain. The hope is that people in remote regions far from any medical service will still enjoy the benifits of vaccination without having to trek for days to a clinic or wait for outsiders to fly in to give shots. All they will need is to be given the altered seed one time and after that, simply eating their own grain will do the job. What types of GM crops could help the world?Oak trees that produce edible acorns.

Algae that make oil.

Golden rice.
