Do u think that ppl would listen more about preserving the environment if politicians, and newscasters would provide attractive alternatives instead of diasters about environmental problems...Our problems with the environment?ppl need to be scared to take actionOur problems with the environment?Do you think people would worry about environmental issues if they knew the Earth has gone through at least four Ice Ages and Global Warming Periods all before man showed up on Earth and that the current Global Warming movement today is only meant to be another means to extort money from our paychecks?Our problems with the environment?Maybe people would be more supportive if the government wasnt going to make hundreds of billions off of global warming.Our problems with the environment?
It is not up to newscasters to provide alternatives - except when a new and interesting alternative has emerged and needs reported. They provide the news. The news on the environment is that we have deep systemic problems that are going to lead to a slow moving disaster we may or may not be able to mitigate.



In a nutshell our biggest environmental problems are the use of fossil fuels (extraction, refinement, delivery, and burning) which take a heavy toll on the environment, and agriculture - chiefly livestock.



In the short term there is very little we can do about either. We need fuel, we need food. But we can eliminate (or drastically reduce) the use of fossil fuels over time. This is a good thing on so many levels for everyone but the fossil fuel industry. It will happen, but may not happen soon enough to undo the damage.



As for livestock, technology will have to provide an answer there, but right now the only answer is world-wide vegetarianism. That's not likely to happen.
