I need a Environmental problem that Research can solve?

Research almost always involves statistics -- sounds like math to me.

Remember that the supreme environmental challenge is getting people to change their behavior. You could do a survey to determine people's attitudes WRT adopting existing energy alternatives such as geothermal heating/cooling.

Example questions:

Geothermal heating systems are too expensive to install.

(Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree, Don't Know)

Geothermal heating systems are unreliable.

(Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree, Don't Know)

And so on. You may find that people don't know about the example technology, that they may have misconceptions, or that they have legitimate concerns. The first couple of problems can be addressed by disseminating information. The latter by attacking manufacturing costs or providing financing alternatives.

Of course, you'll have to learn how to create questionnaires, conduct surveys, analyze the results, etc. Have a peek at www.surveymonkey.com

PS -- I have nothing to do with geothermal anything. It's just an example.I need a Environmental problem that Research can solve?that doesn't sound like a mathematics question
